Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) pulled a pleasant surprise on some outstanding tourism leaders at the recently concluded 2024 Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE), which took place in the East African nation.
CEO of Uganda Tourism Board, Ms. Lilly Ajarova invited three ‘Tourism Veterans’ to walk on to stage to be recognised and honoured. This surprise was at a packed tourism trade dinner organised by Ugandan Airlines at the Ndere Cultural Centre in Kampala at Day 2 of the Pearl of Africa Travel Expo (POATE).
The three tourism gurus, namely: Amb. Ikechi Uko from Nigeria is the organizer of Akwaaba African Travel Market, Accra Weizo, CHINET, etc. He is also the publisher of ATQ News and the first travel magazine in West Africa, Travellers; Alain St. Ange is the former Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine of Seychelles, and President of the African Tourism Board (ATB); and Cuthbert Ncube, who is the Executive Chairman of (ATB), were introduced and honored as the ‘Giants and Pillars’ of Tourism in Africa.
Ikechi Uko of Akwaaba African Travel Market in a message issued to the tourism trade said “Massive recognition to share the same space with my Oga St. Ange.”
