Kenya’s Malonza Bags African Tourism Woman of the Year Award

Kenya‘s Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage, Hon. Peninah Malonza has been celebrated and recognized as the Africa Tourism Woman of the Year by the Africa Public Service Conference and Awards (APSCA). This took place in a gala dinner held at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Friday 8 September 2023 as part of this year’s event themed, Towards a Digitized, Green and Resilient Economy: The Role of Public Sector.

 

The event, graced by esteemed guests, including the Second Lady of the Republic of Kenya, H.E pastor Dr. Dorcas Rigathi, and Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Dr. Mohamed Awal, was a testament to Malonza’s dedication and contribution to the tourism industry.

In her acceptance speech, Hon. Malonza expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am delighted to be recognized as the Africa Tourism Woman of the Year by the Africa Public Service Conference and Awards. First, I would like to sincerely thank H.E. President William Ruto for believing in me and for nominating me as the Cabinet Secretary for tourism in his government.”

She also acknowledged the essential role played by her dedicated team and stakeholders, highlighting the importance of their support in achieving this milestone.

“This nomination wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my dedicated team, stakeholders, and the amazing community we serve. I’m excited to continue promoting and enhancing our beautiful tourism industry,” she remarked.

Malonza also commended APSCA for their commitment to infusing the best global practices in the public service across the continent. She urged everyone to embrace partnerships, combat corruption, and leverage modern technologies to compete effectively in the modern world.

In conclusion, Malonza expressed her inspiration to continue championing sustainable and responsible tourism in Kenya. She invited all those present to join her on this journey to elevate Kenya’s tourism industry to greater heights.
