The Ghana Tourism Authority in collaboration with the Kwahu Traditional Council, Kwahu South Municipal Assembly, Kwahu East District Assembly, Kwahu West Muncipal Assembly and Kwahu Tourism Initiative has launched the 2024 Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival at Abene, in Kwahu after paying a courtesy call on the Kwahumanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II on Monday, 4th March, 2024 at his Palace.
After the launch, the Ghana Tourism Authority engaged with Stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality value chain as well as other allied agencies at the Freedom Hills Hotel, Nkwatia, to discuss pertinent issues with regards to this year’s event; which will be held from Friday, 29th March to Monday, April 1, 2024 on Mount Odweanoma at Atibie–Kwahu in the Eastern Region.
The Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival has become an International Aviation Sports; attracting thousands of tourists into the country for memorable experiences. It also plays a pivotal role in boosting domestic tourism, thereby creating jobs and revenue for the indigenes especially the youth. Moreover, it will also increase both domestic and international arrivals. The rate for a Paragliding flight is One thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵1,000).
Seasoned tandem pilots like; Blake Daniel Pelton–USA, Naohisa Okada–Japan, Eduardo Reategui Vera–Peru, Edward Stein–USA, Chuck Smith-USA, and Jonathan Quaye also from Ghana will fly patrons from the Odweanoma Mountain and land at the Nkwakwa Stadium during the 4- day Kwahu Easter Easter Paragliding Festival.
Major Stakeholders such as the Meteorological Services Department, the Red Cross Society of Ghana, the Ghana Ambulance Services, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Police Service, and the Ghana Armed Forces are each playing a specific role in ensuring a successful festival.
